OurStory

Jishu Labs is a software development company building custom software, AI/ML systems, and full-stack web and mobile applications, and the maker of eight AI tools for software teams. The name 'Jishu' comes from the Japanese word meaning 'independence' and 'self-reliance,' reflecting how we work: building software end to end ourselves rather than outsourcing the hard parts.

Riken Patel founded Jishu Labs in 2016 to build software the way he wanted it built: senior engineers owning a product from the first conversation to production. That is still the core of the business. We design, build, and launch custom software, AI systems, and web and mobile applications for clients.

Alongside client work we build our own products. Our suite of eight AI tools (Sensei, Keisan, Kioku, Kiku, Kozo, Shivo, Michi, and Jumbi) shares a single sign-in and a common foundation, and each one has a free tier. Every practice we bring to client projects is one we run on our own products first.

How we operate

Six things that are trueabout working with us

Not aspirations. These are the constraints we actually run the studio under, including the ones that cost us work.

  1. We build our own products first

    Every practice we bring to client work is one we run on ourselves. The eight tools are not demos: they ship, they have users, and they carry the same review, testing and release discipline we would apply to your codebase.

  2. You work with the people who build it

    A founder-led studio has no bench and no account layer. The person on the discovery call is the person who writes the code, which is the main reason estimates and reality stay close together.

  3. Decisions get written down

    Architecture choices, trade-offs and the things we rejected are recorded as we go. It is how a handover works without a three-week shadowing period, and it is why you can leave.

  4. You own everything at the end

    Source, infrastructure definitions, documentation and repositories. No runtime licence, no component you keep paying us for, no dependency on us being available.

  5. We say when something is a bad idea

    Including when the honest answer is to buy rather than build, or that the project should not start yet. A studio that agrees with everything is only useful until the first hard decision.

  6. Claims come with evidence or not at all

    You will not find a client logo we cannot substantiate, a certification we do not hold, or a statistic without a source on this site. Where we do not have proof, we say so.
